Chelyabinsk, Lyceum #11

1. We are from Chelyabinsk city in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russian Federation. Our city is on the geographic border of Ural and Siberia, the eastern slope of the Ural Mountains. It is situated on both banks of the Miass River. Chelyabinsk, built as a fort in 1736, is the seventh most populated town in the Russian Federation. An abundance of military equipment was manufactured here in the war years. In 2015, Chelyabinsk was officially awarded the title of а “Hero-City,” and the people have nicknamed it “Tankograd” – “Tank Town.”

2. Lyceum No. 11 of Chelyabinsk City was founded in 1991. Today Lyceum No. 11 is one of the best schools not only in Chelyabinsk, but in Russia. Our modern facilities provide students with every possible opportunity to become whole, well-rounded individuals. The school’s teachers its mission as follows: “To renew, conserve, and augment Russia’s intellectual potential, and foster a sense of civic consciousness, social competency, and spirituality among its citizens.”

3. Our group leader: Natalya Nikolayevna Shtyrlyayeva is a geography teacher. Our team members: Artyom Z., Artyom T., and Beata B. (5th grade), Danil A., Maxime I., and Maria V. (6th grade), Danila Y. and Dimitry T. (9th grade), and Stephan P and Yekaterina S. (10th grade).
